We are proud to be part of the B community, but what does that mean?
B Corporations are a new generation of companies that are breaking paradigms of what a for-profit company should be. They are companies that know how to balance purpose with profitability. They don’t just want to be the best in the business, they want to be the best for the business. They do not generate problems to sell solutions, B companies know the current problems and through their business they contribute to solve them. B companies are there to show us that working for a purpose greater than ourselves is not only possible, but necessary.
According to the B-System criteria, companies are evaluated on their corporate practices related to their governance, community, environment, workers and employees. Since November 2020 EQUIORI is part of this group of companies being recognized for its achievements in the field of governance, environment and community. This is an honor and a motivation, as it confirms that we are not the only ones who feel that it is possible to do business in a different way.
In the EQUIORI team we are clear about one thing: profitability is a means, not an end. The company exists to support the integral development of the Colombian countryside. We are convinced that this is the most efficient way to reduce poverty, inequality and contribute to the construction of a peaceful country.
This gives us a purpose and there is no stronger motivation than working for this. There is no greater satisfaction than working for others. We do not buy cocoa to make chocolate. On the contrary, we make chocolate to be able to buy cocoa and many other Colombian agricultural products; this is what makes us different and at the same time similar to our System B colleagues.
As a small company, we hope that both large and small companies will take this path and that Sistema B in Colombia will become bigger and more influential, for the good of all.
